Urgent: WFP Scaling Up Emergency Food Aid in Gaza

, World Food Program USA

Amid growing global concern and mounting international pressure over mass starvation in Gaza, the World Food Programme (WFP) welcomed the recent announcement of humanitarian pauses and designated humanitarian corridors to facilitate the safe movement of UN convoys delivering emergency food supplies and other aid to people in Gaza.

Thanks to the generous support of partners like you, WFP is ready to scale up its response. We have prepositioned lifesaving food assistance at or en route to the borders, enough to support more than 2 million people for nearly three months.

But, to meet the basic humanitarian food needs in Gaza, WFP must deliver over 62,000 metric tons - more than 136 million pounds of food every month. Last week, WFP delivered 350 truckloads under extremely dangerous conditions, which is just over half the number of convoys requested. Since May 21, we've delivered 48 million pounds of food aid. But to fully meet the need, sustained and expanded deliveries are essential. The opening of the humanitarian corridors is a start.

With your support, WFP stands ready to further scale its operations and deliver lifesaving food directly to the most vulnerable families. Every contribution, no matter the size, can transform lives. Every dollar, every truckload, every moment counts.
