Recent strikes in Iran and renewed violence affecting the Middle East are compounding already fragile health systems across the region. Reports indicate damage to hospital infrastructure, disruption of emergency and trauma services, and strain on medicine supply chains.
Intensifying violence—particularly in southern Lebanon—has forced hundreds of thousands of families from their homes, placing severe strain on already fragile health systems.
Americares is prioritizing rapid, partnered interventions that restore access to essential health care, prevent avoidable illness, address urgent mental health needs, and reduce pressure on overstretched local facilities.
Our immediate focus is to support partners in Lebanon. Through trusted local partners, Americares is supporting mobile and community based health services, including:
--Mobile Medical Units serving displaced families in shelters and host communities
--Distribution of essential medicines and medical supplies
--Primary health care and referrals
--Integrated mental health and psychosocial support
Our Emergency Programs team continues to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with partners to determine where our support – including essential medicines, emergency health kits and mental health support – can make the greatest impact.
As always, our focus remains on protecting access to health care for communities facing crisis.
Your donation today delivers timely, effective, and accountable health care for communities facing crisis in the Middle East, and across the globe.
*Should Americares raise funds in excess of what's needed to respond to this particular crisis, the funds will be redirected to where the need is greatest.
