In November 2025, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines experienced catastrophic flooding, landslides, storm surges and high winds from monsoons and multiple typhoons.
Hundreds of people died across the region, and millions have been displaced. Damage to the agricultural sector will have significant economic consequences and exacerbate food insecurity across the region.

Key facts:

In Vietnam, at least 90 people died and over a dozen are missing from severe floods and landslides in Central Vietnam.
In Thailand, a naval carrier and a flotilla of 14 boats and helicopters have been deployed to provide relief supplies, food and medical personnel to affected areas.
More than 11,000 people in Malaysia have been evacuated.
Two back-to-back typhoons in November 2025 caused catastrophic damage in the Philippines, killing over 200 people.
