WCK's Response to Community Displacement in Haiti (May 2025)

World Central Kitchen is working closely with our long-standing local partner in Haiti, Hospital Albert Schweitzer (HAS) to fill the acute gaps in food and water access after families were displaced as a result of intense gang violence in the region. Our teams are establishing a strong network of 14 community kitchens—strategically located near the camps, homes, and medical centers where displaced families have gathered—to start cooking warm, nourishing meals for the communities impacted. Like all WCK responses, our teams will use the power of community to strengthen our relief efforts by recruiting local volunteers, hiring local staff members, and sourcing fresh ingredients from local farms. This response remains a rapidly evolving situation, but our teams are committed to continue supporting impacted communities for as long as we are needed.

WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.
