UNICEF: Stand With Children on World Refugee Day

, UNICEF USA

Globally, there are tens of millions of refugees and internally displaced children and families struggling to survive, awaiting humanitarian aid or safe harbor. World Refugee Day, celebrated on June 20th each year, celebrates the strength and courage of those who have been forced to flee their home country to escape persecution, war, or violence.

The total number of children displaced by conflict and violence rose to 48.8 million by the end of 2024, with large populations of children driven from home in places around the world: Sudan, Myanmar, the Gaza Strip, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Afghanistan.

UNICEF provides urgent humanitarian supplies such as safe water and medical supplies for children and families on the move, as well as long term assistance like education and psychosocial care for those displaced by war, conflict, extreme poverty or natural disasters.

You can help support UNICEF’s work to protect children and families on the move:
• $8 could provide storybooks for 12 children
• $19 could provide a refugee family with 1 tarpaulin for shelter
• $38 could provide water purification tablets to purify at least 10,500 gallons of water for families in emergency situations
• $60 could provide a child with a two month's supply of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to treat severe acute malnutrition

Your flexible support helps UNICEF meet the urgent needs of children. Unrestricted
donations help UNICEF provide vital aid to children worldwide and will be directed to
the area of greatest need.
