Americares on the Ground in Washington as Wildfire Crisis Unfolds

, AMERICARES FOUNDATION INC

Multiple wildfires, including the Old Trails, Fairview and Autumn Lane fires, have forced widespread evacuations across Eastern Washington, displacing approximately 65,000 residents and disrupting access to essential services. Families have been forced from their homes and are sheltering with loved ones or in community shelters as emergency response efforts continue.

Americares is responding with a health-focused, partner-led approach, working closely with local organizations to assess the evolving needs of affected communities and identify where support can have the greatest impact. Our emergency response team is coordinating with partners across Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana to better understand health-related challenges resulting from the fires and ongoing smoke exposure.

As conditions continue to change, Americares is prepared to deploy additional response capacity to strengthen local coordination, conduct assessments and help address both immediate and emerging health needs. Based on partner requests, support may include:

--Protective masks to reduce exposure to wildfire smoke
--Hygiene and personal care supplies
--Mental health and psychosocial support resources
--Other critical health-focused assistance for affected families and communities

Americares is committed to ensuring that our response is informed by real-time assessments and the needs identified by local partners and community leaders. By working alongside organizations closest to the emergency, we can help deliver timely, effective support where it is needed most.

Your donation to Americares US Disaster Fund can help Americares provide health-focused relief and recovery assistance to people impacted by the Eastern Washington wildfires and other disasters.

Together, we can help communities recover and rebuild in the aftermath of this disaster.
