Colombia Earthquake | Children's Emergency Fund

, SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION INC

A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, August 10th, causing significant damage across the Pacific Region. With tremors felt as far as Venezuela, this marks the strongest earthquake to hit Colombia in a decade.

With nearly 2 million people living in areas hardest hit, countless homes have been destroyed, schools and hospitals have collapsed and critical infrastructure has been damaged.

Save the Children has already launched an emergency response through the Children’s Emergency Fund, allowing teams to deliver critical support to children and families from the earliest moments of the crisis.

Following a disaster of this magnitude, Save the Children is readying to:

-Distribute emergency relief items, including pre-positioned hygiene kits, clean water and cash assistance.

-Support children's education by distributing learning materials and setting up safe learning environments

-Set up safe spaces for children and offering psychosocial support

Save the Children has worked in Colombia since 1985 through programs focused on health, education, protection, poverty reduction, climate resilience, water and sanitation and child rights.

Please consider supporting our Children’s Emergency Fund to help protect kids when crises like this strike.
