Philippines Earthquake | Children's Emergency Fund

, SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION INC

A massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked parts of the southern Philippines, resulting in dozens of fatalities and affecting about 3 million students in the province of Sarangani.

While the full extent of the damage is still unfolding, our teams are reporting a devastating reality: classrooms have been reduced to rubble, schools have been forced to shut down and thousands of children have suddenly lost their safe places to learn.

Save the Children has already sent our emergency response team to Sarangani province.

Our response will be based on needs assessments, however, following a disaster of this magnitude, Save the Children anticipates:

• Distributing emergency relief items, providing clean water and cash assistance
• Supporting children's education by distributing learning materials and setting up safe learning environments
• Setting up safe spaces for children and offering psychosocial support

Save the Children has worked in the Philippines since 1981, with programs in humanitarian response, health and nutrition, education, children's rights and protection.

Please consider supporting our Children’s Emergency Fund to help protect kids when crises like this strike.
