WCK's Cyclone Chido Response (Dec. 2024)

Cyclone Chido, which was the worst cyclone to hit the territory of Mayotte in 90 years, made landfall as a Category 4 cyclone and brought sustained winds of more than 136 mph (220 kph). Public infrastructure on Mayotte has been severely damaged or destroyed, including the airport and main hospital, electricity systems, and communications. Our teams are cooking from our Field Kitchen. At the same time, we are working alongside dozens of restaurant partners and supporting community kitchens to ensure families impacted by the storm are receiving nourishing, comforting meals.
