On February 28, regional hostilities in the Middle East erupted, with conflict rapidly escalating—posing threats for civilians and disrupting humanitarian operations. Though further attacks are anticipated in the coming days, International Medical Corps remains firmly committed to ensuring the safety of our staff, saving lives and supporting the health and well-being of affected civilians who rely on our programs across the region.
International Medical Corps continues to be one of the largest humanitarian health actors in the Middle East, delivering a broad range of lifesaving services at scale in some of the region’s most complex and high-risk environments. With active programs in Gaza, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, our teams provide ongoing care, reaching nearly 4 million people last year through integrated health, nutrition, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), protection, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs.
In countries such as Lebanon—where International Medical Corps has been active since 2006—cross-border fighting is rapidly escalating. International Medical Corps–supported health centers remain on standby to deploy additional mobile medical units to meet rising community health needs, pending formal requests from the Ministry of Public Health. Essential medicines and medical supplies are stocked and ready for dispatch, while non-food item needs within shelters continue to be assessed.
