A powerful earthquake has killed thousands.

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake has toppled thousands of structures in south-eastern Turkey (Türkiye), killing more than 8,500 people. Tens of thousands are injured and hospitals are overwhelmed. The pre-dawn earthquake was followed by more than 100 powerful aftershocks, some of them at magnitude 6.0 or greater. This part of Turkey is already dealing with the consequences of a decade of conflict in neighboring Syria. The region is home to millions of refugees.
The emergency response efforts are complicated by the freezing temperatures and damage to infrastructure. Organizations are on the ground, distributing food, clean water, shelter, blankets, and medical supplies, and providing vital healthcare services.
We can support organizations that are assisting with the rescue and recovery efforts, and those providing essential supplies to the region.
