The Wölcken Foundation supports projects in the field of education in geographical Europe. The Corona pandemic in 2020 clearly showed the weaknesses of our education system: classes at schools and universities canceled without replacement, weak infrastructure and a lack of skills for digital substitute formats, and a growing imbalance between social classes. Education quickly found itself at the bottom of the political agenda. With disastrous consequences for the educational status of an entire generation. The full extent of the long-term social and economic consequences is not even foreseeable yet. The Wölcken Foundation supports projects in the field of education in geographical Europe. When selecting projects, we place particular emphasis on the approach of "helping people to help themselves". This means that we finance projects in which children, adolescents and young adults are taught skills or qualifications that will enable them to build a self-determined life for themselves in the future. Because everything starts with education.

The Wölcken Foundation is a funding foundation. We do not initiate our own projects, but support existing and new projects of others with money or - although less frequently - with our personal engagement.
